Lanie Treen
Lanie Treen has spent the past few years as a vocalist, lyricist, playwright, musical director, and arts administrator – and hopes to continue juggling these interests without dropping anything heavy on her head.
Lanie has a degree in English Literature from York University, where she spent four years singing with collegiate a cappella ensemble Wibijazz’n’. She co-founded Retrocity in January of 1998, shortly after graduating from York. She has never quite gotten over her 80s crush on world-renowned sunglasses wearer Corey Hart.
Lanie has written several plays and musicals, and is hoping to workshop her first full-scale production this coming year. Musical direction highlights include As You Like It and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Driftwood Theatre) and The Adventures of Joseph Andrews (Studio 268). She wears her Clark Kent glasses during the day as Associate Director for Toronto’s annual Queen West Art Crawl.
